Karch Kiraly's 4 Keys to the Forearm Pass or "bump"

Karch Kiraly, the only person to have won Olympic gold medals in both volleyball categories: beach and indoor AND named by The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball, (FIVB), volleyball's highest governing body, as the greatest volleyball player of the 20th Century Says this of passing....

I’ve often said that forearm passing is the cornerstone of volleyball, and I believe it more than ever now that I’m a coach. If you want to elevate the play of those around you, indoors or beach, you have to be able to make the ball go where you want by using your forearm platform.

Sharks!!!! We did A LOT of passing drills last Saturday and will continue with a few more this Saturday at practice.

To that end, I would like you to Watch Karch's Video on the 4 keys to the forearm pass, HERE

And then review them on your own.  You don't even need a ball or a partner.  Just stand in your living room, watch the video, and copy Karch's movements!

Then remember his 4 keys

1) Stopped and Balanced
2) Thumbs/Wrists Together
3) Set the Angle
4) Simple One-Way Motion

I will ask you about them on Saturday!!!!!

About us

The CWS are a boys volleyball club in the heart of Washington State that is dedicated to playing the game with passion, pride, and discipline. We train in Ellensburg Washington, write in the heart of the state. Club wide, we are dedicated to giving boys in Central Washington the opportunity to play the sport they love and to continue to be students of the game and constantly learn as the game is continually changing.

We have head coach, Erin Murphy who played College Volleyball in the state of Utah, before moving to Ellensburg! We believe that coaches are the key cornerstone to being a successful volleyball club, and strive to work with knowledgeable and dedicated couches and assistants alike.

There is a conscious effort in our club to provide a sense of brotherhood. That we are all pulling on the same side of the rope so to speak. We believe that this will help our players learn the value of teamwork and sharing a common passion towards a common goal that will not only help us win as a club, but also help our players after they leave us and are to face the competitive world that awaits.

Finally, we are here to win, teach the game of volleyball at the highest level, get our kids prepared for their high school seasons, get our kids recruited to play college volleyball, and most importantly to win gold medals!
